The Exciting Discoveries Continue
It has been a couple of weeks since my last blog post and in that time I have found another exciting cache of ancestors, and even a few living relatives.
My ties to the United States continue to grow as I discover more and more famous relatives. My latest discoveries include:
President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, my 9th cousin 2x removed through his mother's side
President Gerald Ford, my 10th cousin, once removed.
President Herbert Hoover, my 7th cousin, 4x removed.
Vice President Nelson Rockefeller, my 6th cousin, 4x removed.
VIce President James Schoolcraft Sherman, my 8th cousin, 3x removed.
First Lady Mamie Eisenhower, my 9th cousin, 2x removed.
First Lady Lucretia Garfield, my 6th cousin, 5x removed.
Prime Minister Sir Robert Borden, my 7th cousin, 4x removed.
Actor Richard Gere, my 11th cousin, once removed.
Samuel Colt, inventor of the Colt Revolver, my 5th cousin, 5x removed.
There are also a number of U.S. military men in my direct and extended families, including 2 Rear Admirals, several Generals and a lot more. I have also discovered a significant number of famous industrialists, bankers and philanthropists, all direct relations on my paternal side and all descending through my American lineage.
All of these discoveries have been made possible thanks in large part to the DNA testing I have had done, as well as research and making contact with other DNA matches. It takes a lot of time and effort to track down the 9,000+ relatives who now populate my family tree, but in the end, knowing my family history makes it all worthwhile!
