Sir Winston Spencer-Churchill

It has been several months since my last post, and for that I apologize. I have spent the last several months finalizing and then launching my latest novel, Bloodlines: Brenda's Revenge. Now that my 3rd book is published (and doing well I might add!), I have again turned my attention to my family research.

Just the other day I was reviewing information regarding famous descendants of my 10x paternal Great Grandparents, Eulalia Marche and Henry Burt. The Burt's were some of the original Pilgrim's to arrive in the US back in 1639. While searching, I discovered that former UK Prime Minister, Sir Winston Spencer-Churchill, was also descended from Eulalia and Henry Burt who were his 7x Great Grandparents through his American mother, Jeanette "Jennie" Jerome.

This discovery was a significant one for me as I have always admired Winston Churchill for his bravery and how he lead the British people, and those of the Commonwealth, to victory against the Nazi's during WWII. While all other European countries fell to the Nazi's and Fascists, the UK alone held off the onslaught of bombing raids which had forced other countries into submission. Winston's ability to rally the people with his speeches was truly amazing.

I also find that Winston Churchill had a humorous side to him, and the exchanges between him and Lady Astor have often brought a smile to my face. A bit of an eccentric, Winston was no doubt one of the greatest figures in 20th century history.

I will work on a page dedicated to my cousin shortly, and I only hope that it can do justice to the memory of the man who helped save Western civilization from the tyranny of the Nazi's from 1939 through their defeat in 1945.
