New Family & A Letter From Buckingham Palace
Back in late May I sent a letter directly to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, requesting special permission to visit my cousin Augusta Frederica Bruce's grave, which is located in the Royal Burying Ground at Frogmore.
I had exhausted all prior avenues, and while I knew this was a long shot, it was important for me to try and visit the final resting place of this colourful and historically important family member. Today I received a response from Buckingham Palace (which I never really expected to receive), and while my request was denied, it was done with in a personal manner which I greatly appreciated.
I have also been busy and have been in contact with several other long lost relatives, both in North America as well as in the United Kingdom. I have gained a great deal of insight into my family from correspondence with my "new" relatives which has proven helpful in my on-going quest to find out as much information about my family as I can.
Ancestry research is not a sprint, it is a marathon, with lots of challenges and struggles, but the rewards are well worth the effort. Never give up the quest.
